One of the core objectives of the Worcestershire Ambassadors is to promote the County as a great place to live, work and party (OK, it’s live, work and visit, but having fun is very important!). I have now stepped down as Chairman after 3 very enjoyable years, and have therefore left the Board, with Phil Dutton as again assuming the position of Chair for 2018.

Over the last few years, the Worcestershire Ambassadors have been very successful at raising funds – over £250,000 which has been donated mainly to County-based charities, but also in sponsoring local groups, events and festivals, which support our aims in Worcestershire.

Worcestershire Advance is one such group. Their aims are similar to our own, but hey are aiming at engaging a younger audience. Helping make their launch and initial events successful has helped provide them with momentum and also helped to build confidence that things are achievable. Nothing is achieved without hard work, but if our sponsorship and support has helped then we have done our bit.

Worcestershire Advance has had a very strong start and maintaining this momentum will be difficult, but I have every confidence that the calibre of the Board and enthusiasm of its membership will succeed. I urge other businesses and organisations to provide Worcestershire Advance with the necessary backing over the coming months and years.

On a personal note, I will continue to support the Ambassadors fully, and have just joined the Wooden Spoon committee. I look forward to seeing many Worcestershire Advance members at the regualr monthly First Thursday evenings which Laura Bligh organises so well.

My best wishes to Worcestershire Advance.
