It’s my pleasure to be writing our first blog of 2019, highlighting some of Worcestershire Advance’s key achievements over the last 12 month’s, and reinforcing our plans for the current year.

Looking back at our first full year as an organisation I am proud to see so many individuals and businesses engaging with Worcestershire Advance. Our membership has grown to 50 individuals across a range of industries; a testament to our group’s focus on providing support and development for talented individuals across Worcestershire.

Two of our members – Ray Gillespie and Pippa Dressler-Pearson – have joined the Board of Directors and are now helping to shape the future of Worcestershire Advance. If you feel this is something you would be interested in, then please do let me know for when future opportunities arise.

Throughout 2018 we were sponsored by Hewett Recruitment and the Worcestershire Ambassadors. I would like to thank them for backing us, as this allowed us to support some fantastic local events such as the University of Worcester Gold Awards and the Skills Show.

In 2018 we also ran a number of events; our Question Time evening, our ‘friendly’ fitness competition (!!), two skills workshops, multiple key speaker events, and more. With your feedback we now have a clearer understanding of what works – and what doesn’t – and look forward to building on this in 2019 and beyond.

Our aim for this year is – in many ways – simple. We want to continue to grow, both in terms of our membership and the benefits that we offer to you. We want to continue to run great events that attract new members, but also use them to develop and showcase our existing members. As ever, we want to help you get involved in the community, but also make it easier for you to access our social media, website, and get involved with Worcestershire Advance. Finally, we want to  increase the local discounts you can access and make it easier for all of our members to meet, communicate and do business together.

As ever Worcestershire Advance remains committed to providing a framework for our members that helps them in their journey to become the future business leaders and business owners of Worcestershire. Our objective remains to Grow, Retain, Engage with and Attract Talent in Worcestershire #GREATinWorcs.

I wish you all the best for 2019, and look forward to seeing you all soon.
